Default Fuel consumption at idle... A problem?

Hi guys,

I just noticed that the real-time fuel consumption gage in my virtual cockpit shows crazy high consumption at idle. See attachment. The grey bar is all the way to the right. You would think it would be very small. Can someone check their consumption at idle and tell me if this normal?

Oh yea, forget to say that I have a 2.0 liter TDI quattro.

Ryan

Yes. Stopped at a light. Haven't checked when it's in park, but I would assume it's the same. The tech is at 850ish. It seems strange that the get bar is showing consumption at 20l/100km. You would think it would be look 1l/100km.

But if you are stopped then you will continue to burn fuel and make no progress so your consumption is basically as bad as it could get.

I agree. While sitting at idle, your getting zero mpg's which brings the overall average way down too.

Right, of course. So the gage isn't real-time fuel consumption, it's an average over a distance. Of course! Sorry for the stupid question! I still think it's kinda bad design. It should just show nothing, then get bigger when you accelerate

Because technically you are consuming less fuel when idling than accelerating.

The unit is not l/hr, it is l/km.

And thats exactly why they created the start/stop system. So theres no consumption when stopped. Go on, lets all do a collective "Ahhhhhhhhhhhh".
