Gas prices?

I generally buy Shell or BP, but it seems wherever I buy it, Shell Premium seems to be at least 10% higher than any other premium gas. Is this just local or widespread? If widespread, why is that?

Is Shell Premium Premium Ethanol-free in the US? That might explain the higher price. Here in Canada, Shell Premium does not contain Ethanol and its price is a bit higher compared to other Ethanol-laden Premium fuel.

No it is not, wish it were though.

Around me, all gas/grades are 10% ethanol.

In my areas Shell is usually competitive with other brands. BP is the one that is normally higher than the competition.

Here in Connecticut, Shell is also about 10% higher than the second most expensive brand at most stations but we have one which is competitive. I tend to use COSTCO since they are both top tier and lowest price. I am fortunate to have two COSTCO clubs within 10 miles of my house.

In North FL the price for 93 is the same regardless of where I go (as long as it's a name brand station like Shell, BP, Mobil, etc.). I have the Shell Fuel Rewards card so I get 5 cents off a gallon every day and, when I buy groceries and go out to dinner, I typically get 20-35 cents off a gallon for the next fill-up so a great savings and the card is free!

Chicagoland here, Regular is usually the same for BP and Shell but for Premium BP is usually 20-40 cent higher. I always get Shell, signed up for fuel rewards also. There is also one Shell station that is on Tuesdays 20-50 cent cheaper than any other Shell.

In Atlanta GA - Shell is always a little more expensive... but not 10%, maybe $0.10. Never noticed BP being higher.. don't fill there very often.

I fill up at QT in GA... ethanol free, have never had a problem with it, and its on par with prices all around us.
