Brake Squeaking

Brake Squeaking
Every time I pull out my of my driveway when the car has been sitting for a few hours or overnight the brakes squeak when I stop at the end of my driveway. I know it's not a big deal but it's a little embarrassing when I am driving an Audi and people walking by hear brakes squeaking like that. When I had my 10,000 mile service they said that this is normal. Funny, didn't happen on my Ford Explorer. Just wondering if anyone else has this issue?

I don't know about it being "normal" but my wife's ML350 has been doing this and I've noticed there are some scoring marks on the front rotors probably caused by debris getting between the pads and the rotors. Have you visually inspected your rotor and pads?

My Q5 does it all the time, except when it's hot out for some reason. I was also told it was normal. I've found if you start backing out and just hit the brakes hard once (instead of "creeping" like normal) it usually goes away.

Yes, this is normal. Actually it happens more often with S models because of a harder compound on their pads. All German manufactured cars does this because they all use the same compounds on their cars. Its a softer compound(maybe you noticed more brake dust than on previous cars?) so that their cars stop better. Unfortunately, there arent any aftermarket pads for our cars yet but as soon as there is Ill be jumping on it. I miss the disc italia's I had on my S6.
Because of the larger amount of brake dust, it gets clogged up and causes squealing. Best practice if you havent washed your car in a while is to do a few hard brake tests to clean them out.
