LukeHawk's A4 Build Thread - "The White Wolf"

Hey guys. I thought I'd breathe a bit of life into the A4 forum, and post my trials and tribulations of owning an Audi A4.

I hope you enjoy the read, and feel free to provide feedback, and constructive criticism :)

---------------------------------------

So a while ago, I picked up my new car: An Audi A4, B9, MY2017, 2.0 TFSI FWD.
It sure was a looker:

I love the way it drives, and how comfortable it is on the road, compared to my previous 2013 BMW F30 M-Sport.

The car came with the following notable extras:

1) Virtual Cockpit
2) Full-spec infotainment system, with navigation, and audi connected drive
3) Matrix LED headlights

Some things to note, however. I could not find an S-Line model with all the other specs I wanted available, So I settled for the base shape with the specs I did want. Also, I could not find a quattro either, as in my country they are very rare, due to not having snow in the winter (I presume this is why?) But I've had no hassle with the 190HP FWD variant I have, as its brilliantly fuel efficient, and decently quick. I'm considering a JB4 in the future, if I feel like I need a bit of a boost.

So, now that the new-car fun is over, it's time to partake in my hobby of modding the car. I tend to stick to visual mods for the most part, as I believe in preserving my maintenance plan, and like the option of reverting to stock, should I want to sell.

First mod on the list: Red start/stop button

A fun little cheapy mod, that looks neat. I got it from Aliexpress, and I'm very pleased with the fit and quality.

IN THE MEANTIME

Carrying on with the modding section, I've had an itch... seeing all your beautiful S-Line models over the past few months has been driving me crazy. I cant deny the subtle-yet-sporty look of the S-line trim, particularly the front... and thus begins my long and very expensive journey to perform a full front-end conversion.

Using the Nemiga parts list, I deduced that the following parts will be needed for the conversion:

1) The bumper, with headlight washer covers, and without front PDC
2) The small long grill that sits below the main grill, to help stiffen the bottom of the bumper (the most infuriating part to get)
3) The base plate/splash plate for the new bumper (the one for the base model is a slightly different shape. could probably have retro-fitted it regardless, but I want to do a proper job)
4) The fog-grill inserts

I finally managed to find a local source for the bumper, small grill and base plate:

For the foglights, I could get them locally at an INSANE price - so I opted to try get them online.
Not even 2 weeks later, and they arrived from overseas!
I found a few good options, but ultimately settled for this style, in gloss black:

..But this opened up a new can of worms...
My grill is the standard chrome single-slat style. This was not going to match my fog lights at all... so off I went again! This time, to Ebay.

I contemplated all sorts of different styles, but ultimately went for this:

I'm still waiting for it to arrive.

Once the grill arrives, it's off to the body shop again to get it all painted and fitted.
This should complete the front end of the car!

NEXT UP

Alright, so with the front all sorted out, it's time to focus on the rear.
Now I could go out and find everything I need for a rear-end S-Line conversion, but to be honest, it's really not all that different, and I'd rather spend the money on just making what i DO have look a bit sportier.
I have no serious plans yet, but possibly a nice diffuser and spoiler.

I have my eyes on this spoiler:

Mostly because its local, and at a decent price. I do think I prefer the smaller "straight" spoiler though, as this may be a bit too aggressive. What are your guys thoughts?

Thanks for checking in, and I'll be sure to keep this thread alive with each update in the future.

Where'd you get the grill? Looks great!

Thanks for the write-up, and sorry to see the damage.

The rear spoiler looks really nice, though maybe more aggressive than I might do in the near future. I still like it though!

Good luck on the visual mods, looking good so far.

Following, love the OEM+ Build idea!

Thanks for the comments, guys.

Cars currently in the shop getting sorted out. Hopefully it will come back as good as new.
The black grill I ordered has landed in my country. Hopefully it gets through customs fairly smoothly.

Decided not to take that duck-tail spoiler.. a bit too agressive for my liking

The grill arrived! Quality really looks good. I'm very impressed.
It also came with the RS4 and Quattro badges, but I'm not going to be putting them on - I'm here for looks, not for lies haha.

Finally got my car back from the shop after the accident. Looks fantastic. I've analyzed this thing from top to bottom, cant tell anything ever happened to the car. Very impressed with the body shop. It was an Audi approved shop as well - and I had the guys from Audi do an inspection, etc. Clean bill of health :D

Now I can finally begin with the front end conversion. Stay posted.

For those interested, the front-end conversion is complete! Came out fantastically, if I do say so myself.
