Default Maintenance costs

Recently bought a 17 A4 and I'm curious what others pay for their 10k mile maintenance. I looked on Audis site at a dealer near my work and the 30k seemed reasonable, about $288. I was surprised it wasn't morex as my Jetta was usually between $300 to $500. Then I looked at the 40k and the price was over $1,300. Like I said, i expected it to be more expensive to maintain an Audi but I'd be lying to say that price didn't surprise me. I'm only at 25.5k miles so I've got a little while until then but I definitely want to do what I can to keep it in good shape.

So, what have maintenance costs been like for you guys?

Really appreciate it

buy audicare. It’s less than the 40k service alone. You can do it before your 20k service.

Don't believe I can. The site says for new or low mileage CPO, or I totally would

I got mine at about 19k miles, last year, and had my 20k mile service done under the plan on the same day.

That sounds about right for a dealership at 40k miles, mainly because they're replacing transmission fluid. I'd start looking around your local area for a reputable German specialist shop that you can trust. If you're around the Charlotte area I'd recommend TransArt NC. His shop has made maintaining a german vehicle cheaper to maintain than my brother's Honda Accord. (He takes his to the dealer)

I bought my car new and did Audi Care. All maintenance is taken care of until 50k miles for about $850 I believe.

Yeah, Audi Care would be a sweet deal. I bought my car from a VW dealership and I get free lifetime oil changes there, so I might just have the maintenance done there, or another VW dealership I used in the past, as I assume it would be a little cheaper.

Thanks for the info though

I was quoted for about $770 on my 40,000 maintenance. That was Oil change, oil filter, engine air filter, cabin air filter, spark plugs, and inspection items. However I just did myself because those are all extremely easy. Spent about $120 for the oil and oil extractor, $10 oil filter, spark plugs were something like $35... all in all I'll do it for under $200.

I asked them about the transmission fluid and they said it didn't need to be changed since it was a lifetime fluid. So, not too bad. I know most Audi owners aren't the DIYers, but I just enjoy doing it and knowing the quality of work that was done.

The DSG fluid is not lifetime fluid.

I've had this debate in other places on this forum. My owner's manual doesn't say to change it, and my dealership doesn't say to change it, and even if I took it to them, they said they weren't going to change it(which is when I decided to just do my own service because the rest of it is under an hour of work).

Having said that, I will likely change it myself because I see other places on the forums and online that it is to be changed, and I'd rather be safe than sorry. But if I was a less knowing, or less interested owner... like just your average Joe who doesn't pay attention to maintenance type things and just took the car in whenever they told me without knowing what was being done, it wouldn't get changed. So I've had a difficult time knowing what to believe.

I changed my DSG fluid myself. It is not that hard.
