Default No response when shifting from R to D

Has anyone encountered a lack of response from the gas pedal when shifting from reverse to drive? The other day I was performing a 3-point turn. While in reverse, I shifted to drive, pressed the gas pedal, and no response. The car continued to slide backwards, almost hitting the car behind me. I had to brake hard. Any possibility there is a fault with the transmission, or is this the nature of the transmission?

When quickly switching between D and R or R and D there is sometimes a delay as you experienced, but this tends to be the nature of dual clutch transmissions.

Are you sure you didnt accidentally go into Neutral? There have been times I thought I pulled back hard enough to go into D(and didnt look down to confirm) and I kept rolling backwards because I was actually in N.

That's a good point. I don't think I did, but I'll double check.

You were in neutral. This shifter actuation takes some getting used to.

This is like the one thing I miss from a regular automatic with an old style shifter - predictable and fast reverse gear. DCTs and even CVTs have that awful lag, and sometimes you're not even sure the shifter in the right position.
