Default Problems with range

Hi,

First time poster, long time lurker...

I picked up an A4 s-Line in January, liking the car but it seems to suffer form
A few issues, I wonder if anybody else is suffering the same?

1, The Bluetooth was initially terrible, phone often would not connect and calls/music would be so distorted they could not be heard, eventually Audi agreed to change the Bluetooth module, which at least seems to have solved the issues with the phone connected at all, but the call quality and streaming music is still choppy, especially when in my pocket (I have tried with several different brand phones). Anybody else having this issue?

2, The keybob remote unlock range is terrible, not too bad for the back of the vehicle, but from the front I would say I need to be a metre from the car before it will lock/unlock, particularly annoying when walking away and trying to lock it. When reported to the dealer as they were changing the Bluetooth I was told "wel if yours is wrong they must all be wrong because they are all like that" surely not...

A little disappointing so far after switching from Mercedes, I know you can get faults with any car but they seem quite dismissive of "trivial issues" as I drive a lot for work, lack of useable Bluetooth is a real problem for me sorry to drone on but hopefully other b9 owners can confirm this isn't the norm.

Cheers, Matt.

I only listen to music over Bluetooth and I've had no issues. I have only taken two calls in my car, but again no issues. As for the key fob, I can't say as I rarely use the buttons on the fob. I only use the fob when I want to open or close all the windows and during those times it worked.

I realize you've asked about the B9, but, for what it's worth, my B 8.5 exhibits none of those behaviours. I agree - they are unacceptable.

I mainly listen to music via Bluetooth from my iPhone. I've had it in my pocket, my backpack, sitting in the cup holder and in the center console. I haven't had any issues with connection or bluetooth audio dropouts. I assume you've tried resetting your MMI and phone? (You mentioned you've tried several different brand phones, what OS?)

I can't comment on the keyfob as I usually open and lock the door from the handle.

I listen to music almost solely through Bluetooth and have not had any issues. Calls have been very clear in both directions through BT.

I use the door handles for locking and unlocking and rarely use the key fob. I do use the key fob to open all windows and sunroof to let hot air out and it does seem like I need to be pretty close for that to work.

No issues with any drop outs. I can lock and unlock my car from a distance of @ 25 metres as long as it is a straight path with nothing blocking its way.

Range is shortened for the window opening function. I want to say 6 feet, but that seems a little short.

Keyfob range is the only issue for me. Anything further than 10-15ft away and I can't lock my car already. It's the shortest range fob I ever had.

I usually just lock/unlock from the handle as well, so I didn't notice this was an issue until I needed to lock/unlock the car for my friend when standing across the street. It would work until I was halfway across the crosswalk.

I haven't had any issues with Bluetooth music. In fact, I was surprised to see that cover art is displayed on the MMI screen while streaming through Bluetooth. My last 2 cars had the ability to stream through Bluetooth, but neither one would display the cover art unless I plugged in the iPhone through USB.

Apparently there is some sort of cover art database within the MMI system. It definitely is not getting it from my music files, because in more than one case, the cover art differed from what it displays on my iPhone. For example, a song that shows the "best of..." album cover art on my iPhone now shows the original album cover art on the MMI.

That's a cool feature and means you don't need artwork attached to your files, you just need the songs and artists metadata to be correct.

Hi, thanks for the reply, I've tried iOS and android, both have the same problem, actually changed phones whilst owning the cars from iPhone 5s to 6s, and still the same problem, the whole thing sounds like an antenna issue to me, but getting Audi to agree is another matter :/ also my car does not have the keyless unlock feature, I have to unlock with the fib, which is why the Fob range is such an issue.

Cheers.
