Default SiriusXM trial

Can anyone confirm that the Sirius subscription will end automatically after the trial period, or do you have to call in to cancel it to avoid being charged?

If it matters I am in Canada.

I'd assume it's the same everywhere. It will just shut off and you will only get XM1 the preview channel.

Check your documents, but typically it cancels automatically.

Mine did that, but be ready for endless emails and snail mails over the next several months trying to rope you back in.

I registered online and then went in and changed my phone and email address. They were never smart enough to realize and it reduced spam. Apart from mail...

Good idea. Thanks guys for the replies. I heard plenty of stories about Sirius renewing subscription without authorization so just want to make sure.

You'll probably get a call from telemarketers soon enough trying to sell you a continuation of the service. They'll offer you a great deal for the first 6 months, which then automagically renews if you don't cancel...

... which is easy to end up not doing. Satellite radio is strangely addictive.

It can't Auto renew unless you accept to continue after the trial. They have no credit card details or authorization.
But cancelling further down the line can be problematic.

In my last car I kept it for several years, then finally decided to wean myself off it and cancel. I called them, expecting a knock-down drag-out fight to get it canceled, but they've clearly been listening to criticism and it was a pleasant 5-minute job to cancel.

It's possible I got lucky, but there really did seem to be an easy process. They did try to sell me on a better deal, but I just told them I was getting rid of the car and didn't have another one coming at this point.

I can confirm that it will just stop working.

I'll also mention that if you call them they will give you 6 months at $5 a month, pretty much forever (but you have to call back every 6 months).
