Speaker Trim Recall FYI

I had the 30K service performed today and they stated they would be doing a software update as part of the Quality program (?) and addressing the speaker trim issue
I asked if they would be replacing the trim and they said no just removing it until a later date but they weren't sure
I requested that they do not remove it as it is not an issue but they still removed it anyway
Anyone know what the software update is for? hoping it wont change any of the changes i have made with VCDS

They removed even though you specifically requested they do not. WTF? Did they not speak English?

It's a RECALL...they are obligated to do it by law whether the owner wants it done or not.

yeah, I think unfortunately there would be a liability issue.

They did a clean job, no glue. They told me new trim would be available in February or March.

The dealer did not remove my trim at my request. They were fine with the work order reflecting that, so it depends on the shop.

If it was something major... I understand, but it's your car, and it doesn't affect anyone else. All you need is a piece of paper that says that you do not want to have that service done to your car until the replacement part is available.

Case in point:

I honestly think we’ve beaten this horse to a pulp.

securityguy 12-10-2017 04:23 PM

Agreed...it's a frickin speaker grill for God's sake

Versprechen 12-10-2017 11:06 PM

Yeah No. It's actually more than that: It's that you have the right to refuse and a right to choose what work is done to your car.
