It makes your takeoffs extremely whiffed. Having hesitation when you need to punch it to get up in front or beat the wall of traffic to the expressway, it's just not worth it, IMO. It's really a safety hazard.

YMMV.
However it's not there to really make the mpg higher but to reduce the amount of pollutants emitted when stationary. If you are comfortable with that then fine, however it is a proven fact that exhaust emissions are causing respiratory issues with much of the population and one of reasons why a combustion engine will eventually be banned....
As a safety hazard, really, really???

The S/S feature in the M240i and 440i xdrive I test drove was really rough. Not horrible on the Audi S4, but I
hate this feature, and will disable it thru obd11when my S4 arrives.
I’m all for reducing carbon emissions (its real purpose) but I’ll do my part in other ways. Not on a performance car.

I actually don't mind the start/stop. With my usual brake pressure I apply it doesn't shut off. I have to press hard to shut it off which is useful at long stops or train crossings. Also I can hear the music much better when it's shut off!

Not to get all preachy, but if you want to feel better about the amount of carbon your pumping out, than by all means, go drive a Prius or better yet, a Leaf. I bought my SQ5 for a reason... and environmentalism wasnt anywhere on that list.

All I want is free will and the ability to manually shut off a device that I find is a detriment to my driving experience. I'm not happy about having to go out and get a device to shut something off that is more a nuisance than a benefit. You add up all my idle time over 5yrs of driving and it's probably not equal to the amount of carbon spewed out by a leafblower in a summer of lawn care. And I dont need the "man" deciding if I "need" to have S/S. At least the prev model let one shut it off one time, not EVERY restart.

The only benefit having to disable S/S, was I had to get OBD11, which I then immediately used to disable my seatbelt nag chime. Well and also switch to Sirius traffic.

Default Mine is never on!

2014 a.8th, 4.0. The start stop has a switch on the dash that allows you to shut it off all the time. I don't care all that much about mileage, if I did I woulda bought a Prius!

I don't actually have a problem with start/stop, but I know how it works and I know what it is for. Plus I know how to press that little button. Obviously it is a serious thing you, but, YAWN, more things to life at least I am doing my little bit towards reducing the carcinogenic pollutants at junctions..

Love the stop start, like most i used the brakes to regulate when stop, best features for me is the Hybrid like idling when park, was very sleepy at my daughter's gym, fell asleep in car, 17°f out the motor run every 10 minutes or so.

It will re-start in the PARK? I thought it will be in OFF mode rather than in READY mode in a minute or so after shift into PARK position.

It will restart. I stopped at a donut shop while my daughter went in one day last summer. The air conditioning was on. I put the car in park and the engine shut off but the climate control kept running. Periodically the engine would restart to keep the car cool.
