If this was the case there would be 1000's of similar cases. The JB4 does not affect shift characteristics.

Over the course of the past year maybe, I have posted some observations about my transmission doing funny things. Today, it almost got me into an accident.

I was behind a small SUV behind a tractor trailer. The semi was doing 15 in a 50 and its a two lane road. The suv in front of me wasnt moving over and there was a line of cars backing up behind me. I saw an opening and I mashed my foot to the floor. The car behind me saw me getting ready to pass so he started getting ready to follow me.

The moment my transmission downshifted, it spun up to redline and bounced off the rev limiter twice. I went nowhere. The car made a ton of noise but didnt move an inch. The car behind me thought I was going and almost hit me. I had to let off the gas in order for it to get "back in gear" and start rolling again.

I have no idea what is going on but this isnt the first time this has happened, but it was the worst time. It usually just hangs at rev limiter until I let off the gas, this time it was bouncing....
First Time Audi/VAG owner, First Time Poster, First Post. Thanks for having me!

Sorry for reviving a potentially old topic but it's relevant to me now. I joined because I just went past warranty and this same thing starts happening to me. 2017 Audi A4 B9 45TFSI with just over 50,000 miles. Just recently flashed my ECU to IE stage 1 at 49,500 miles. All maintenance is current and done at my Audi dealer.

I just had this happen to me, almost the exact same scenario, where my car just went to redline while trying to make a pass. No clutch smell though so maybe a false neutral or mechatronics failure?

Welcome to the forum! Sorry to hear your first post is regarding this issue. Id keep an eye on it and see if it happens again. IMHO, I dont think the transmission in the B9A4 can handle the torque tunes are putting through it. The transmission in my B9S4 feels much stronger.

Its a S tronic gearbox, try to use S mode to see does it improve or not. Dual clutch gearbox works by predicting the next appropriate gear. If it guessed it wrong, that might happen.
