Default Underwhelming gas mileage

So I've had my 6MT for about 7 months and I've yet to see gas mileage anything close to what I had expected, and it's far lower than what I used to get in my B8!

I do a mix of local and highway driving. My daily commute is 9 miles each way, with an extra 2-3 miles of start-and-stop roads for lunch. Should I really be expecting mileage at around 23.6? I realize that the nature and type of driving affects the mpg dramatically, and I can say that I drive mildly 80% of the time and have fun about 20% of the time.

If your avg is 23.6 with the 6MT over the course of 7 months, thats not bad. My average for 2.5 years is just over 25 with the 7spd.

I think only driving 9-12 miles a day is probably why you aren't seeing a much better MPG. Not sure why it's so much different than your B8, but I'm sure it's not the same engine set up.

2.5 years and the average mileage on my A4 is 23.x. 3.5/years and the average mileage on the X3 is 21.x. The A7 is at 19.x. SQ5 is at 17.x. And the A4 is the fastest of the lot. So yea. I’m very impressed with mine.
23.6 is good! No idea how the B8s did mileage wise but the B9 is a better car.

I'd say that's about right my 7spd gets me around 25-27 and my commute to work is only 6 miles city, then I add in some longer (20mi) drives on the weekend but usually not highway but more open roads

The gas mileage is affected by many factors. I get 28 to 29 miles/gal in summer time for my commute and only 24-25 in winter time. And, if I use S mode often in a week, the gas mileage fall to 21 to 22.

Yup. Also, cold temp really affect gas mileage as well. I saw couple miles difference between a 40F and 20F days.

Yes! Hate winter gas. Since I work in the industry, sources say that it will convert by May, which is not soon enough.

It looks like your commute isn't long enough for all the components to warm for the optimum efficiency. My commute is about 18 miles with about 60-70% highway miles and I easily achieve 34mpg.
