While backing up I heard a scratch noise, the road was flat

Today I was backing up while I heard a scratch noise coming from the car, afterwards I looked everywhere and could not find the damage? Is it the bumper possibly?

The car sensed something and applied the brakes... It does that once in awhile for no reasons. Always freaks me out!

I hope so, because I certainly thought I scratched something lol, that noise does not sound like brakes lol.

Turbo Freak is right, happens at times - scary. First time it happened to me I thought the same thing - looked around for some type of damage.

Man, I'm glad I am not the only one! I've heard it a couple of times, Rare, but still there. Once pulling up my driveway from a stop, I thought I had parked over something and was dragging it. The second time it was while I was driving, turned the radio off to listen closely, hit a small bump, and it disappeared. Weird. I was getting ready to take it in if I kept hearing it regularly.
