Is it possible to tether Audi MMI with Phone WiFi, actually making phone's WiFi a hotspot and having MMI connect to it and use it's data?

not that I have seen, no, the car has it's own SIM and data associated with it.

Yes it can be done, I currently am using google earth overlay using wifi hot spot from my phone. It needs to be activated with coding. I used OBDEleven and have used the thread below to get started. Please note I am on a Canadian Spec B9

I wonder if the US cars are similar. Unfortunately I don't get into the coding side of things to know what aftermarket solutions exist

I have OBD11 but I am in US. Does it work in US also?

I would guess yes, but I really can't tell. Try the following and see if the option shows up in the connection manager once you are done. it's easy to revert back if it's not working.

Go to connection manager and set the wifi to hotspot/client and it will work.

I have the google earth overlay working without an Audi Connect subscription or tethering through a phone. Forgot what coding I changed to get it to work though. If enough people want a coding dump I can post it up. Btw I'm not sure what exactly would still work even with a data connection without the prime subscription.
