Default Wiper Replacement

Has anyone replaced the OEM blades with something different? I tried to purchase a set of Goodyear wipers from Costco recently, only to find out that none of the extra bayonet inserts actually fit the wiper arms. Seems weird, but I wonder if it was an intentional modification for the 2017 year to make the secondary market have to redesign their components. Could just be a Goodyear issue.

Thanks in advance!

For years Audi has used a blade with a non-standard interface to the wiper arm. On My 2008 A6 I always bought OEM blades because the ones at the local FLAPS never had the right fitting.

I replaced mine with Bosch ICONs. You need to get the newer packaging, which includes the adapter required for the car... (I forget how to identify the newer packaging; certainly up here, there is still the old packaging around even though the new packaging launched 2-3 years ago). IIRC you need a 24OE and a 22OE, but you should check that before going out and buying them.

The new wiper blades are fantastic compared to the disappointing OEM ones.

I put same costco goodyear with extra adapter - works ok, however vipers sit a little higher than oem but I think it’s same for any replacement vipers. You have to remove installed bayonet and put another one with extra adapter.

Bosch ICON part numbers are in this post:

They work much better than OEM - I replaced my OEM wipers after about a month with the new car because they were so bad.

I agree, the Bosch ICON wiper blades are much better than the OEM under both winter and summer driving conditions.

Thanks guys,

Just ordered a set of the Aerotwins on Amazon because you can't beat that price for the 2 pack. Fingers crossed the install is an easy click and done.

For those who switched to the Bosch Icon blades did you notice any more or less noise from the wipers? They are far better than the OEM but I noticed a bit more (thumping/??) I guess when the wipers hit the top of the swipe. (very technical terms I know!). Just curious what others have experienced.
