2003 A4 Cab B6 3.0L FWD Timing belt or chain?
Hi all, I have a low mileage 2003 A4 Cab 3.0L with just over 50,000 miles. Due to the age of the car I am worried about the timing belt. Can anyone confirm if this engine has a timing belt or chain???
Also should I be worried at this point?

The 3.0 does have a belt cam drive. I just changed mine (plus tensioner, rollers, coolant pump, valve cover gaskets, and new G13 coolant) and requires a set of special tools to be done correctly. If you take it to a shop, I would insist that those tools be used, and all rotating parts be replaced. The reasons for the special tools are that the intake and exhaust cams on each bank have to be locked together by hefty clamps while the belt is being worked on. In addition, there is a tool which fits on a 3/8" torque wrench like a socket, used to rotate the mechanism of the exhaust cam hydraulic adjusters. Beware of the sketchy timing belt methods on Youtube, that certainly some people use.
