2005 A4 convertible top problems
 

I have a 2005 A4 with 170,000 miles. When I open the top, either with the between the seats or the key in the drivers door, the top goes back 3/4 of the way and the boot cover raises 3/4 of the way, and then everything stops. From there I can open it the rest of the way manually, and then I have to close it manually as well. Next time around, the same thing happens. I did notice that one of the hydraulic pumps in the top has sprung a leak and lost all its fluid. Help anyone? My mechanic is estimating $1000 to fix it, and he has no idea what is wrong yet.

Try this manual reset/reboot procedure as described in your owners manual, but performed in this video attached below. Just remember to have all your windows down when you do this...
