Re: How about this color ? Like it?
I've seen one this colour, it's like a sort of silvery grey isn't it?
I think it looks a lot better in real life than in that photo. In answer to your question, yes, I like it. (Prefer Moro Blue though!!! ;-) ) Ari. |
What color is that?

Honestly, I have no idea what color is that. Its like metallic chocolate brown. I really like it.

Re: How about this color ? Like it?
Hello
It's a colour not available in the UK, but if you can fumble your way through the German language, go to the German Audi web site and crank up the configurator, you can see it there along with some other colours we don't get (like a matching beige hood...yuk). Problem is, when you look at the German configurator, you see other options you'd like but can't have !! Anyway, like you Ari, I'm ready to burst waiting for my new cab on 1st March. Of course, been getting a fix at the dealership. |
Atlasgrau Metallic

The color is darker than "light silver" and lighter than "dolphin grey". In the sun light it tends to get beige.

A4 Cabriolet Colors

|
Re: What color is that?
If it is light metallic brown then it will be Alpaka beige metallic.

Re: Atlasgrau Metallic
Ah yes I see the Germans can also have 'Sprint Blue' and 'Venetian Violet' both look quite nice. On my '5 things I noticed..' thread above, now I am not sure if the car I saw was Alpaka Beige or Cosmic Yellow.
Umm wondering what colour I would go for if buying my car again? My first gut was with Aquarmarine Blue - still like that and I think it will wear better than the Caribean Blue I ended up with. Would be interesting to try and order the Violet from a Uk dealer -bet you can import one. |
Carribean Blue
How do you find it to look after? I've always tended to avoid colours this dark as they show up swirl marks from polishing, but I wanted something like this to show up the aluminium trim around the windscreen etc. The trim gets lost with silver and aquamarine which is a shame.
Only 5 more sleepless nights and counting !! |
Delfingrau Metallic

at the extra prize: 1700 Euros versus 580 Euros for a "regular" metallic color. I would prefer Caribic Blue over Aquamarine, but I went for Dolphin Grey! |
It's called Alpaka beige Metallic, i am sure all dealers can order it....cost may vary

Re: Carribean Blue
I got the carribean blue and one reason was precisely as you state: to show off the alum trim. With the silver and other lighter colors the trim seems lost (my test drive was a silver). So far no issues with swirl marks, I have hand waxed it once with excellent results. I'm not sure it gets dirtier faster than any other car I've had, but it was a lot easier and quicker to wash after the wax job.
The carribean blue tends to be lighter in the sun and darker in the shade (hmmm, this does sound stupid!!), and when we picked it up from the dealer at night we thought they got the wrong color - thought it was moro blue. Next day we realized it changes quite a bit with the light. I've seen 2 other cabs here one was a light green (looked terrible to me) and the other was exact copy of mine: carribean blue/platinum interior. Was not in a position to wave but would do so - hey it is a pretty unique and, so far, exclusive club!! |

Eeeaaaawwww no!! Thats something different and altogether more disturbing surely!? (Especially with the beige hood!!
:-S Ari. |

Re: Carribean Blue
I guess we have to wash our cars more often in the UK than Texas!
I am finding that dark Audi colours do tend to suffer big time with swirl marks. We have a Merlot Red A4 which is awful for it and I have to be incredibly careful with the Caribic Blue Cab, though most of the scratches seem to have have waxed out. If you see even a brand new Audi in the showroom in, say, Moro Blue check it out for swirl marks. My dealer says that is the worst colour for it and they pretty much have to fully polish any Moro Blue car that comes in for servicing. I think VAG cars may be worse than most and my feeling is it coincided with the change to water based paints several years ago (but this is just a feeling not backedup with any scientific fact). I have had BMWs and Jags which just don't seem to suffer as much. That is my only reason against dark colours (even though I chose one in the end!). With the Cab I think a dark hood with a light colour provides a good contrast and shows the ali trim off. I don't think there is a bad colour for the Cab (other than Alpaka Beige!). |
Re: How about this color ? Like it?
I have seen one at the dealer this color. It looks quite good, better than in the photo. I did buy a Moro blue one though.
