Default Ill Pay for your beer/coffee HELP

I just signed up. I have an Audi A8L that I absolutely loooove, and an Audi A4 convertible that I just bought from an auction. Im going to start working on the a4. I do not own any specialized Audi tools. I might be able to rent some from a nearby audi shop. I AM WILLING TO PAYPAL or ChasePay, or even Facebook Pay some $ to help me navigate through some questions I have. I just did a VSDS scan. The biggest issue I have is the transmission selector lights are flashing. I believe I need a new TCM but would like to confirm before I rip the car apart.

I have a 2005. I just finished pulling the rear window and regulator out because the window was stuck. Audi is hard to work on. you have to tear so much apart to get to what you want. I am ordering a window regulator now. Then I am going to research more about the tranny computer

Mike,

Welcome to the forum and let's start with the basics first.

Search is your friend: A4 (B6 Platform) Discussion - AudiWorld Forums

Once you enter your search parameters in there you should get some direction, try doing a scan for the "Transmission Range Sensor (F125)", you'll find 3 threads. It does sound like you have a sensor failure of some kind...but you'll need further troubleshooting to determine which one. Before jumping to a new TCM...read the threads and try the easy stuff first.

Take a look here to some of the possibilities: 17090 - Ross-Tech Wiki

Also, you didn't state what kind of tranny you have (i.e. CVT).

Lastly, you asked if Quattro means all-wheel drive...simply, yes it does.

Is there a tutorial video or write up on removal and installation of TCM that's located in the transmission? I've searched for 2 hours and can't find one.

I know this is an old thread, last month, but I just saw it & for what it's worth. Re... what tranny you have. Go to the top bar, click tools, the drop box will show vin decoder, click that, enter your vin number. It'll tell you what transmission is in your car. They're both good but Triptronic is more desirable. How are you making out with the repairs?

The CVT transmission on the A4 is famous for being bad before 60k miles, normally if it's over 90k miles like my 04 cab, then it's safe.
Look at my signature, all the stuff I've done with all my Audis, you may find something you can use only if it failed with my car.

Cheers and good luck,

Louis

Thanks for the info.... "All The Stuff You've Done On Your Audi's". That will come in handy.

I have a question on my drivers power seat, maybe you have some insight. I have an '06 A4 Cab, 3.0L, 77K. I've had it since January 2017. The seat functions all work, forward/backward, up/down, tilt, lumbar, head rest.... the problem is, I can not get the driver seat to go low enough. There is a noticeable difference between the lowest position on the passenger seat & drivers seat. Passenger seat is very comfortable. Driver seat, not so much... my head hits the roof, I'm 5' 10", I know it's a small car, but I should fit. My daughter drove it and had the same issue.... driver seat too high. Any thoughts? Thank you,
