If you want to get it lower, use the tilt function meaning the corners and not the whole bar up and down on the base seat. Lower the front, then the rear... hope it works for you. Check to make sure nothing under the seat.
Cheers

Thanks, I'll try it that way,... lower front then lower rear. I know there's nothing under the seat.

Well, just tried your suggestion ... lower front then lower rear and discovered the rear tilt function is not operating, I could swear it was but I was wrong. I can hear the motor when the rear tilt is engaged but the gear (looks like a half moon plastic gear that controls the rear tilt, I guess that's it) does not move and that gear doesn't move with any other seat function and all other functions operate. I sprayed WD-40 on the gear and inside the area as much as possible. I'm going to let it soak for awhile to see what happens. If I do have to remove the seat... looks like four torx head bolts, maybe T55. The hard part would be removing the main seat plug, looks tricky to unplug. Seems like you are on the right track with your idea, any other thoughts? Thank you, Mark

Default Before you do anything, go to the passenger side and try to see

how it works - you may not have the tilt function? They should be identical.

Cheers,

Louis

It is identical on the other side (passenger) and that gear & seat move when the rear tilt function is actuated. So that's the problem w/driver seat and WD40 didn't help, I didn't really think it would but it's worth a shot.
I can hear the motor running when the rear tilt switch is actuated on the driver seat but nothing moves. The rear tilt (driver seat) is stuck in the full up postilion.... no wonder my head hits the roof. Maybe the motor is bad, maybe that gear is jammed?

I think the motor turns the threaded rod turns the plastic blocks. Check these blocks for being stuck somewhere. Look at the working one and go from there

Yes, motor turns but there is no threaded rod. There's a gear inside the mechanism that meshes w/the half moon shaped gear I can see and shifts position on the seat, up/down. The gear wheel inside is a $70.00 item and could be worn out. Before I do anything, there's a small shop near me that specializes in VW/Audi repairs. I know the guy and he's helped me before with a reverse light problem that turned out to be a simple fix. I'm going to have him take a look, he may see an easy solution that I don't see.
FYI... I've been looking at height adjustment motors for my car... Dealer cost @ $333.00, prices on line... $24.99 (used) and up.

Regards,
Mark
