Default Looking at a 2007 3.2L Quattro

It is at a local used car dealer with 136k miles on it. They are asking $4995 for it, but could probably get it for less. They do state that the power windows aren't working, and the top doesn't go down. What are the likely causes of this, and is it worth my time and money to put in the work to try and fix it?

The first question you should ask the seller is if the timing chain guides and tensioners have been replaced. They are the Achilles heal on the 3.2 and the car is at the mileage where they tend to become a problem.

The dealer has little to no clue, so unless it is in a Fairfax report, they wouldn't know. What is with these timing belt/ timing chain guide issues on Audi's?

I do plan on bringing any Audi i am considering buying into my mechanic for a prepurchase inspection. Seems like $70 well spent when buying a $4000 car.

Placement. It's behind engine so any service done to it takes more time and therefore money compared to something like 1.8t where the whole timing belt is replaced in couple hours.

Regarding the roof/windows issue. I'm not sure what the problem could be, but... I would recommend either buying VCDS or make friends with someone who has one. Life will be so much more easier after that.

My wild guess is some control box or wires to the said box are broken/wet. Usually it is the cables. Does the boot lid lock? because if it does not, then the roof won't work (although windows should). There is just so many possible things.
