Default Power seat height Adjust is stuck in highest (rear) position

Been dealing with this problem,.... all seat functions (drivers seat) work except the rear height adjustment. It's stuck in the highest position. Motor runs but nothing moves when switch is engaged. Has anybody ever replaced the height adjustment motor? The part # is 7L0 959 111. Seems easy to do but I'm getting mixed reviews about that. And the motors I've looked at on line do not come with gears, most likely the problem with mine is worn out or broken worm gear, I can see the exterior gear and it looks fine. Also, any way to manually lower the seat height? Maybe someone has done that. Like I said, the front part of seat moves up/down, the rear part of seat is stuck up.
Thanks,

If you mean switching seats, passenger w/driver, that won't work, nor will motor switch from seat to seat. If you mean buying a replacement driver seat, too expensive. I'm tired of playing around with this problem & purchased a new seat motor from a VW dealer this week. Hope to have it Monday and install next week. This is also a good opportunity to clean/shampoo carpet under seat. May do passenger seat too..... cleaning.
Oh, one more thing, I had a VW/Audi specialist check out the seat, he determined the seat motor gear (worm gear) is broken or stripped and there is no way to lower that section of seat manually.
I'll let you know how it goes.

Thanks,

I took your advise and switched seats, I used the rear seat to replace driver seat and moved driver to rear. Works fine.... thanks for your help.

You meant passenger? I knew it would work since you don't use the passenger often.
Cheers,

Dear Itooz a6 a8 q7.... I thought you were kidding with me when suggested to switch seats, Pass w/driver or motor, pass w/driver. Won't work, different seat controls and different motor. So I replied I switched rear seat w/driver and all is well. I was kidding! I replaced the motor, it comes as a complete assembly # 7L0 959 111, now seat works fine. The problem was the motor wheel gear (worm gear) was bad. The motor itself is fine and the wheel gear can be purchased for approx $70.00. So, if anyone out there can use a seat height adjust motor ( 7L0 959 111) let me know. The motor itself sells on line for about $25, this one is free. The complete motor assembly from Audi/VW @ $333.33.

I thought the motor would be the same, just the switches are opposite, but glad you got it working, never had to replace any motors since I've owned Audis.
Cheers,
Louis

Thank you. In dealing with this motor issue I've found out that having to replace a seat motor is almost unheard of, guess I'm the lucky one, or not!
