My wife and I have started rallycrossing our '03 1.8T quattro sport package. It's a little heavy but is still killer fun to drive on the dirt. I want to make a couple improvements and need some advice.

First off is I need to raise the car a bit. With the lowered sport package it really takes a beating in the ruts. I think the best option will be to get some Bilstein HDs and get taller springs. Other than stock A4 non-sport springs, are there any other springs that might work in giving the car a raise and maybe still offer a stiff spring rate? Any other suspension set ups that might work?

The steering rack was leaking before we started racing it. I think I'm going to just replace it with a rockauto rebuild unit unless anyone knows of a better option. I think the power steering pump needs replacement too. It's making a death whine even after the fluid level has been topped up.

I found that in 1999 A4s came with 15" alloys that are tough as nails. I found a set that, with Hankook rally tires, look great on the car.

I fabricated an aluminum skid plate that covers most of the front of the car and has worked well so far.

The drive train is mostly stock. It still pulls surprisingly hard for having 187,000 miles (we bought it new). Original clutch still holds strong!

I'm wanting to give this car a second life as a rally beast. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help with advice.
