Recommended Oil Change Interval Revealed
Ever wonder what the "real" recommended oil change interval for late model Audi's "really" is. If you use the recommended 100% Synthetic Oil meeting Audi, BMW, Mercedes, VW etc. Euro Specs...would you believe 10,000 miles or 1 year typical if your driving is a good mixture of city and highway driving!

The 2nd link goes into details and includes a list of pdf's for maintenance schedules for model years 2004 thru 2017.

Their marketing is very conscious of keeping cost of ownership down.
Anyone who had a B5 A4 with sludgeing issues, or B5 A4 with a snapped timing belt because they recommended 120K miles between timing belt changes will naturally be a bit leery of what Audi recommends.
Frankly I wouldn't risk my turbo, or car by going as long as Audi says.
I go about 7500 miles between changes and have never had an issue.

Of course it is up to the user to change it as often as they choose. Audi does have a caveat in that if you do mainly short trips and never let the engine get up to normal operating temperature that it is considered severe service and may have to change your oil as often as 5,000 miles because blow by acids and sludge from condensation contaminates the oil much sooner under these conditions...! On the other hand, some synthetic oil manufacturers say you can change the oil at 20,000 miles or 1 year whichever comes first (Amsoil). This post is about what Audi recommends for model years 2004 thru 2017. In 2017 they rounded up everything to 10,000 miles (rather than initial 5,000 miles and 10,000 thereafter)...
