Default ** PLEASE HELP ** SIM Card will not read in my 2012 A6

I have tried everything to bring functionality to my MMI system in my A6 to enable wifi functionality using Audi Connect/Google Maps, Including having Audi send me 2 different brand new SIM cards. I have become convinced that the Sim reader in the MMI is somehow disfunction all, as the SIM doesn't slide in and click like in my friends cars, and the little slash never goes away (showing that the system recognizes that there is at LEAST A card installed. Has anyone else had this issue, or know of a work around to possibly tether wifi from my cell or something to give me this functionality?? Any and all suggestions or advice would be SO appreciated. Again, I have a 2012 A6 with the pop up screen, and the Sim slot surrounded by 2 SD card slots (which both work fine....)
Thanks for your help!!

So you push it and it pushes right back out? Does the logo change if you hold it in by hand? I wonder if the spring is stuck in the lock position, maybe you can push like a hair pin or something in it to release it?
