Default Paddle Shifters on 2014 A6 3.0T

Hello everyone! I am loving my new A6, bought it in 1 month ago, already did a big road trip. Just a great all around car. LEDs, Prestige, 20", grey metallic with dark brown leather, etc.

When I use the paddle shifters, it reverts back to D or D-S often after a few seconds, maybe when I ease up on the gas. Is there somewhere it explains how and when it reverts back to auto? I have searched and have not found anything.

thanks!

With the car in either Drive or Sport mode the transmission will revert back to either of these modes after about 20 - 30 sec. of no input from paddle shifter. This is completely normal. If you want complete control with the paddle shifters than place the car in manual mode. Not sure if this is covered in the manual.

Cool! Thanks for the reply. So 20-30 seconds of no input, it really seems less, I'll check again. I'll also try in Manual mode sliding the stick to the right.

There also seems to be an acceleration/deceleration algorithm component. The reversion back to one of the auto modes appears to hold a paddle gear longer if doing either vs. a shorter time if at a steady state speed.

Yeah, that makes sense to me. It is normally way shorter than 20 seconds, it can switch back in 3-5 seconds. Also, going to Manual mode keeps it in Paddle mode too, awesome! That's what I needed.
