2012 A6 Steering Dead Spot
#2
I'm having this problem. I have spoken with two Audi dealers and both say this is the first they have heard of this problem in an A6. One referred to an A4 having this issue and claimed the intermediate steering shaft was the problem. I have been researching this problem for some time now and so far have not found a "smoking gun" one fix solution. There are solutions ranging from a VAG-Com setting to replacing the rack. I'm going to lube the u-joints on the shaft and see if that helps.

I got the '48K8' software update TSB and my steering has been fine ever since. However, it does say the issue is more noticeable at freezing temps, but I live in Florida where it rarely gets that low.
