2014 v 2016 A6 3.0 CPO

Is there a big difference between the two model years? I know about the cost of the map upgrades for the 2014. Price difference seems to be $10 to $12 K for the car.

Not much difference. The 2.0T and 3.0T got an engine HP increase that made it more peppy. The face and rear lights have changed. The electronics have a few upgrades (2016 has the LTE modem, USBs for phone and a few other minor things).

3.0T is a lot more "peppy" 333hp. I am not sure which trims include LED head lights, but they are excellent

The 3.0 went from 310 to 333hp, in real world driving not (if any) difference, the A6 competition is 340. The 2.0 saw the biggest increase.

I went from a 14 to a 16 and the biggest improvement in my mind is the MMI, where the old one is sluggish and not always responsive, the new one is nice and snappy. As an added benefit the center screen on 16+ supports map navigation, I don't use it much but it's nice to have. The performance of the MMI definitely would make me choose the face lifted model. Is it worth an extra 10-12k? To me it would, because you're also driving a 2 yr newer car and longer warranty, etc...

The two year newer model and a longer warranty seems like a couple of noteworthy differences to me.

I bought a 13' (CPO) and traded it in for a new 16' (both 3.0T) three weeks later and took a very big hit. But I also got the 16' for $9k under sticker price which made it a little more bearable. I did it because I drove the 16' after buying the 13' and noticed a huge difference in acceleration, and I also wanted the sports suspension which the particular 13' I bought didn't have. Was it worth it in the end? ABSOLUTELY! Don't think twice. Get the 16'. Acceleration seems improved, more headroom as that middle module above that holds the sunroof buttons seems smaller (might be my imagination though), and yes, the MMI works much better. The sound of the Bose system also seemed slightly better in the 16'. I don't look at the map on the instrument cluster either, as I lower my steering wheel far down and it blocks it. And yes, the full LED lights are worth it alone! The amount of light those give off is amazing, "the closest approximation to a beam of pure daylight than any other vehicle today" I read somewhere..
