I've noticed a slight rattle when I start driving. It only lasts for a few seconds and then goes away. It does not happen all the time.

It is still under warranty. I plan on taking it in soon. Any ideas what I'm in for?

I am at 89k miles and I have not experienced the issue. Have you had the EPA fix done?

My new from 2013 3.0T Quattro Prestige has had this since day one. Been six years now. Can't say I found it worth the dealer or an indy mechanic taking apart things at the risk of something bigger. Car otherwise runs great. Am at 60K miles on the odometer.

Thanks for the replies. Yes the EPA was done before I bought it. Otherwise it's been great. I only bought it a week ago.

The only thing I'm going to do is put the 18 inch wheels on it instead of 20 so the road noise is reduced and it rides a little smoother.

Is this your first TDI?

Diesels make much more noise than gas engines.

At work, when I pull away from our guardshack after swiping my badge the sound echoing back off the wall is a bit cringeworthy to some. But not nearly as bad as the old mechanicallly-injected engines.

In a gas engine, these noises would mean imminent destruction.

Pretty sure it's normal based on your description. You will also hear it (much louder, same amount of time) after oil change on first start.
