2016 Audi A6 MMI Aux Video Input
I recently ordered a 2016 Audi A6 p+. I have been following the forums for sometime now.
I understand that on the new 2016 Audi A6, the proprietary AMI connector has been replaced with standard USB ports.
I was wondering if there is any way to hook up an external video source through these USB ports (like for mirroring your smartphone).
I believe this was done using a special AMI cable with composite inputs on the older models.
Thanks,

Since the MY2016 has USB ports, you won't need an AMI cable (finally a thing of the past). You'il be able to skip the AMI cable and in it's place you would need an A/V to USB cable, something like one of these:
Otherwise, the other components shown would be needed:

Amazon.com: HDE 3 RCA to USB Audio/Video A/V Camcorder Adapter Cable for TV/Mac/PC: Computers & Accessories

Not possible. The MMI does not support mirroring without the components in the link I provided. Video directly from the iPhone using the Apple native video app is doable but not native mirroring.

Am I missing something on this? I have not been able to get this to work via USB while parked.

Snagit, have you confirmed post-facelift cars can use this USB AV part and display video on screen? The item you linked would use the USB audio/video codec to pass digital video. You can't pass analog AV over a digital connection like USB.

The questions is, does the Audi input take in digital video over USB, and how does it do it? Haven't seen how it works in the '16s. USB is not a typical video interface. If the car does accept video streaming, I assume it happens to use a USB video codec (like USB Audio codec), but typically TVs play files on USB drives vs stream video.
