2018 2.0 FSI/ZF 8 HP Questions
Recent purchase here. I know, I know, the 2.0 is a bit small for this vehicles weight, but it has plenty of power for me, and I got an amazing deal on it.
A few questions:
1. What are common issues with this newer generation 2.0 FSI and ZF 8 HP?
2. Does this model have any design flaws which will lead to catastrophic failure and $5k+ repair bills (I just got rid of a '13 X1 due to a timing guide issue)?
3. What should I keep an eye out for?
4. Can I realistically get this car to 200k+ miles?
Thank you!!!

Although this really does not answer your question, we have a 2016 Audi A6 Quattro Premium Plus with about 40K miles on it. It has been operating flawlessly since new. The only thing that surprised me was the need for new tires, rotors and pads very recently. We have the oil changed every 10K miles , had the brake fluid and spark plugs changed recently. The car has more than enough power and gets up to 35 mpg on the highway. The car has the driver assistance package and I wonder if the adaptive cruise control system increases the wear on the brakes.

I agree with you barring some fatal design error like my BMW '13 X1 with a plastic timing chain guide that tended to grenade the motor around 100k.
