Am I getting this too early?

Bought the 2018 A6 3.0T in January 2019, now it has only ~3000 miles, but I’m getting this message when getting the car started, saying I need an oil change in a month... does it look right? I mean I never drive the car hard or anything, I was expecting to do the first oil change in a year or 10k miles...

This message shows up every time I get the car started since a few days ago

I assume your car is one of the stop sale cars. Your car probably had a few miles, and may have sat for a long time. So even though you only have 3k miles the car has clocked 1 year since the original in service date. That's probably why you're getting the change oil notification.

What is recommended in this case? Should the oil be changed soon as indicated or can it wait till the 10K mile mark?

The maintenance schedule is one year or every 10k miles, which ever comes first. Check with your service advisor, but I'm pretty sure you'll have to do it at one year. Your first year/10k service should be free.

First free maintenance is 5k and every 10k after.

He has a 2018. 2017s on are first service 10k/year then every 10k/year.

You can go to the dealer and have them adjust the reminder manually to reflect a year from delivery date.

I think you are probably right, that makes sense. My car had ~500 miles when I bought it, but it may have sat on dealer's parking lot for a while. I'll call the dealer to schedule my first free oil change. Thanks!

But I hope my warranty started at my purchase date, I will go check all the paperwork tonight.

It depends if you purchased as new or used/CPO.
