Default Anyone know what might be causing this fault?

Code:
Address 46: Central Conv. (J393)

1 Fault Found:
03637 - Roof Electronics Control Module; Function Limitation due to Overtemp
            000 - - - Intermittent
             Freeze Frame:
                    Fault Status: 00100000
                    Fault Priority: 6
                    Fault Frequency: 2
                    Reset counter: 148
                    Mileage: 27701 km
                    Time Indication: 0
                    Date: 2015.09.02
                    Time: 13:51:42
I've noticed this fault the last couple of times I scanned the car (~6 month). Mt first thought was that it's related to the sunroof, but that's working fine...
I've cleared it once and it came back immediatly.

Any ideas?

Does it occur after you have parked the car in the sun? The motor system for the sunroof has an over-temp system and it can get very hot even though you are not using the motor to generate the heat to the unit.

Is the car still under warranty?

If you have the VCDS cable, perhaps you can check the temp sensor's accuracy after it has been sitting overnight. That sensor should be reading very close to ambient temperature.

I've had this fault code show up consistently for 3 years since when the car was new and the sunroof has always worked fine in all conditions. My service tech, who often sees this code, attributes this to an overly sensitive sensor and not an issue with the motor. When I run a scan, I just ignore it.

So you moved this issue to the "feature" column instead of the "fault" column?

Yes I do have VCDS. I'll check the temp. Thanks.

This is pretty much exactly how mine is. I think at the end of the day, I'm going to keep ignoring it too since it doesn't effect anything... Just don't like it nagging me.

Since there's no warning light and the code only appears with a scan, it's a minor nag.

A modern cars have digital networks, there are many errors that occur simply from starting or operating the car. The software is designed to log but not report many of these minor errors or you would constantly see warnings on your instrument display.
