White - coolant
blue - oil
black - fuel
Do you think it could be a broken gasket ?

But the engine is'nt shaky during idle but when we try revving it up, it turns itself off.

That is the big question, hard to tell without further testing. And the emissions "fix" may only apply to US cars.

Thank you for all your inputs

After removing the intake and exhaust, the mechanic said the turbo has failed, and that the fins have broken into pieces. He gave a list of things to be done

- new turbo charger
- inter cooler cleaning
- exhaust/CAT cleaning
- New oil and filter

Is there anything else i need to be careful about before starting the engine again ? Should i ask them to do the EGR cleaning as well, i read somewhere that EGR is also cooled with the oil line, can anyone confirm ?

The car only has 90,000 kms and has that level of damage? Wow. Sounds like the car has had a rough life. I hope that you got a great deal on the purchase.

Default 3.0 TDi 2012- Coolant loss- humming noise from engine - While Smoke[FIXED]

UPDATE

We managed to find a replacement turbo which has done just 18k kms. The car was again back to running condition.

But we also noticed that the coolant level was dropping very quickly, it was the water pump which was leaking. We removed the pump to replace it, but found that the pump was intact but the seals were leaking. So we got a sealant paste and bolted the pump back on and the coolant level stopped dropping for a couple of days.

I took the car for a 1000 kms long drive, I found 2 more problems.

1) i noticed that the coolant level came down from MAX to MIN. It isn't as bad as before , but im not sure if it is still leaking or is it the air lock while flushing and replacing the coolant. I also noticed that the engine bay was pretty hot after the drive, i am not sure if that is normal too. But the coolant temperature on the instrument cluster seemed normal.

2) Which i coast at 100 kmph , i can hear a high pitch humming noise but even if i touch the accelerator, the noise stops. And the appears around 2000 RPM. Any clue what that could be ?

Jeno

Curious but - does the dealer not offer any warranty, even a short one? Are vehicular warranties expected in India?

No, not very likely specially if its past their 4 years warranty period. I have seen people struggling even when it is under warranty. They blame the harsh conditions here (hot humid weather, dusty and broken roads).
