RO: Audi A6 C7 2.0 TDI - Low oil pressure
Hello there fellow Audi lovers!
I`m having a nasty problem with my A6, hopefully I will eventually get to the bottom of this. The internet is awfully silent about this issue, and although there`s plenty of people reporting the problem, you won`t have any luck finding a solution.
Specs - A6@2013, 2.0 TDI, 177 hp, CGLC engine if I`m not mistaken, and 235.000 km on the clock.
Problem - once the engine gets hot ( oil around 80 degrees C and above) you will get "Stop engine and check oil level". As informed in the manual, this is an oil pressure problem. It only used to happen at idle and every few months; now frequency increases to every single time you drive and even at higher rpms. Suffice to say, problem is getting worse. I have been driving the car for 25.000 km now yet the car drives really fine. I wouldn`t be surprised if the engine would fail at some point because of lack of oil, but there`s not much I can do to fix the issue without knowing what the problem is. I`ve already talked with other owners which have tried different approaches with no results - changed crankshaft, oil separator, oil type, different bulbs etc. One guy has managed to get the warning to pop only every few months - remove DPF (increases engine temperature, lowers oil viscous), increase idle value for around 80 rpm or so, changed oil sepparator, install a bulb which measures below 0.6 bar to 0.45. The issue is still there nonetheless, but you get the warning only so often.
So far:
Thanks for the help guys. All the best.

So far:
- Changed oil pump just in case it inherits problems from the previous generation
- Changed oil pressure switch
- Measured oil pressure - starts off at around 1 BAR at cold engine, goes down to 0.6 bar and probably bellow as the engine heats up ( at 0.6 bar I simply gave up since that`s the limit of the OE sensor anyway and it was clear that it was a non-electrical problem)
- Was informed by a VAG dealer that the issue is the lifters - seriously doubted the diagnostic, but it was relatively cheap to replace the lifters (300e labour included); Of course it did not help in any way
- Changed to a more viscous oil than the OE recommended
- Change oil switch
Thanks for the help guys. All the best.

My tries until now:
- hex modified
- oil pump (two times)
- rod bearing and main bearings
- oil duzzles for pistons cooling
- oil filter body and oil cooler
- idle rpm to 880
- dpf off
- 5w40 with PAO base oil.
I only managed to decrease the frequency to 1-2/year so I moved the sensor to turbo oil pipe. I did stop the alarms but the problem remains.
I find on a polish forum a guy in Poland who said that he solve the problem by charging hydraulic lifters and vacuum pump (incl. gasket). Also I know someone who did only the lifters without success so maybe is somethimg related to vacuum pump. There is only vaccum pump and both camshaft bearings to be investigated. I don't see nothing else.
I also find a polish garage service who says that he find the problem but don't want to say the solution. VAG BAUER Service. You can serch for his page on FB with pictures before/after at dif. temperatures.

Hi all,
I have got this exact problem with my A4 CGLC -13, 160.000 km on the clock..
Has anyone of you managed to find out the root cause of this oil pressure problem with the CGLC yet?
Answers would be really appreciated
Best regards

I had same problem I was 300 miles from home got a garage to pressure test car then service and fit new sensor if pressure test was ok . I got the car back and problem was worse even though pressure test came back ok. Phoned rac they bought car back home . Phone few Audi specialists they said they would put an oem pressure sensor on and start doing tests . So I put the sensor on myself to save them the time since then I’ve managed to do 4k+ so looks like my sensor was faulty the one the garage fitted was worse and the oem one has done the job fingers crossed
