Default Audi Care

So my 14' A6 has 34K on it and is due for the 35K service. Audi offered me the 35K and 45K service for $725.

Question is, is this an ok deal? I believe it is, or are these services rip offs? One dealership quoted me 625 for just the 35K and another 580 for again just the 35K.

I assume, the Audi Care would be the same price at every dealership and interchangeable within any dealership

Audi Care is offered by Audi USA through its dealers. The contract you sign is with Audi and an Audi Care package is redeemable through any dealer even if you decide to have the car serviced by a different Audi dealer.

Attached is the Audi Care brochure. The Audi Care program covers services for 15k, 25k, 35k, and 45k miles for an MSRP price of $820. Dealers may decide to sell for less $$. It is a known fact that the dealer's profit margin on this product is very thin. Your dealer offering you $725 for Audi Care just covering 35k and 45k is not really the truth. The truth is that they're enrolling your car in the Audi Care program and they only plan on dispensing the 35k and 45k service since your car's mileage is already at 34k. Will they end up taking the $$ for the unused services (i.e., 15k and 25k)? I do not know but what they're selling you makes me feel uneasy.

At this point, I am not yet saying whether $725 for both the 35k and 45k service is good or bad. You'll have to shop around different Audi dealers and find out how much they normally charge for individual 35k and 45k services. If the cost of both individual services cost more than the $720 offered by your dealer then it is a good deal. If it is almost par then it does not make sense to enrol your car in the Audi Care program.

You can also check out the prices that independent Audi mechanics in your local area charge to provide the 35k and 45k services. They will be cheaper than the Audi dealers. However, be sure to keep all the receipts so you have something to show Audi when you need to make a warranty claim.

Point of reference for you if you care: 15k servicing @ Precision Imports $245, my indie mechanic I've been using since 1988, 15k servicing @ Audi $585. Just sayin...

This is what the maintenance schedule calls for:

35,000 miles
- oil and filter change
- cabin air filter

45,000 miles
- oil and filter change
- brake fluid change (every 2 years)

You could just get an oil change for around $160 at the dealer or DIY ($30-50 for oil, $10 filter). The cabin air filter costs $35 and is behind the glove box, above the foot well. I get an independent mechanic to do my brake fluid change for $120.

Yep service is almost ALWAYS a rip off when you can DIY (or even take it to a inde shop that knows Audis)

I bought a used 2012 A7 with Audi Care paid for by the previous owner. It went in for the 35K service immediately (12/15) and the 45K service (09/16) just before the four year expiration.

I was denied the brake fluid change because the previous owner had it done at the three year, 25K service. I didn't pay for Audi Care and the previous owner didn't use it to it's full potential.

It was nice taking the car in, helping myself to refreshments, looking at new cars and driving around in a loaner while work was performed. If you don't mind paying for that in some way, use the Audi service department and buy Audi Care to reduce the cost.

Since you have passed the 15K and 25K mile services, the standard AC is probably not worth $725 for the two remaining services. I would find a good Indy in your area for the 35K and 45K services. That said, the 55K service is the big one and dealers will charge about $1000-$1100 for that one alone. The manf offers several "Audi Care Select" packages and the one for the 55K/65K for around $850 is the better deal if you want the dealer to perform the services. That's the one I'm buying at my 55K service this Spring.

What I thought was odd was that I called multiple Audi dealerships about the price for Audi care (35/45 only) and they each gave me different prices. All with cents, so I'm pretty sure that tax was included. Now the prices weren't that different, like $60 but they each told me that the price should be the same. They also blamed eachother at not giving me the right price, which was comical

The retail prices are posted by Audi so there should be no confusion. Anything less at a dealer is a bonus. Anything more is a ripoff.
