Default Audi Reliability vis-a-vis Extended Warranty

The new models were introduced in 2012, I have a 2013 (see signature) going out of warranty this month. Not knowing much about Audi reliability except they did have somewhat poor reputation beyond warranty and the purported fact that the 'new' model A6 supposedly took a big step to address this, I want to come to a conclusion about keeping the warranty (30 days to decide) with Century Warranty Services via an Audi North Atlanta they introduced.

I agreed to the Premium Care (top if the line) coverage for 4yrs/48k at $1300 a year - $5258 total, with $500 down and $199 mo for 24 months.

I'm not one to buy a warranty but I want to explore this forum's experience with and/or knowledge of what might be the pitfalls/exclusions/exceptions that would render the piece of mind that an extended warranty should provide.

Here are my questions:

1. Anything signifiant excluded I should know - I see sealed beams and lights are excluded and this may be a deal breaker with the LEDs I have.

2. What traps exist? I must maintain the care which I will.

3. What language do I need to pay attention to? I've read it all.

4. These cars, especially Prestige level, have a lot of electronics which are my main focus for coverage, beyond major mechanicals. Any alerts here?

5. Any exceptional aspects to the coverage of major components to be aware of?

Looks like even tho Audi doesn't acknowledge piston fouling, this contract excludes burnt valves and carbon fouled piston rings. I have no problem doing the media/walnut shell valve cleaning, if/when necessary, as Audi would blow this off anyway. Any comments?

Bottomline, I'm leaning away from this more than to it but you never know unless others have input that helps. My previous 2 cars - a 1981 280Z (21 years) and a 2001 Lexus GS w/Nav and all features I could get (11 years) never experienced a major problem. Worst was a failed passenger window motor on the Lexus but electronics were much less prevalent then.

So, any input, reaction, comments and experiences over the next few days is much appreciated.

Thanks, Jim

Thanks, Jim
Did you shop other dealers or warranty companies for coverage?

Shopped one other, no competitive comparison. This one is most comprehensive and I got some good insight on their admin which is supposed to be very good in this arena.

Found out that LEDs are covered, both exterior and interior, which is a big plus. I contacted them to understand cancel process, was offered another $500 discount over the 24 month term and told to take the full 60 days to reconsider. Also was told Audi has 271 bulletins active which is the most the underwriter has seen.

So, still considering the plan and will do some more comparisons. This one is offered thru a partnership with my dealer.

If anyone has name/names of providers I would appreciate it.

LED's rarely go bad. Sounds like a lot of money to me.

These warranty providers are not charitable organizations. Think Las Vegas. A few will be winners but the majority will have donated their money to the casinos. I've always put the equivalent cost into an "account" against future repairs and haven't lost yet. The only insurance I buy is for those things that if there were a significant or total loss, I couldn't easily pay for out of pocket, i.e. life, health, home and auto.
