We have two versions of an iPhone 5 adapter that attach to an "old" iPhone charger. The smaller adapter is $40, and the larger (with a cord extension) is $50.

Ignore the "not for iPhone 5" note; it will pass/control music, song info and album art (but no video) with either of the two Apple 30 pin-Lightning adapters.

Expect to pay about $80 for the cable at the dealer, and about $25 for the adapter. You can get the adapter at Apple or Best Buy.my car came with the red cable but all of my music is on a 160gb ipod classic, which forced me to buy the blue cable. I'm hanging on to my red cable in case Apple ever releases a 100+ GB iphone or Ipod touch but $80 for that one cable is bananas. If you look at some of the threads on MMI here, you'll also see that you can get album art via sd cards. For about the cost of the cable and with ongoing sales, you might be able to get two 32 or even 64gb sd cards. Something else to consider.
Either the dealer parts dept. or one of the Audi OEM resellers, i.e.:
