Not sure why Audi is at fault... the imbeciles who left their spare in the car (or did not bother to educate themselves about the spare) are to be blamed.

The author of the article should be blaming the 39 owners who were too lazy to read their manuals. The E-key's operation is clearly spelled out and common sense would dictate it not be left in the car.

+1
I cannot imagine doing that. It is like leaving the entry ticket in your car so a thief can drive it out of a for pay parking garage. One always takes such stuff with them unless they are dolts or too busy texting. Jeez!

In other shocking news, don't leave your house keys lying in clear view of the windows!

Also, don't run with scissors!!!!

I didn't know about this extra key. I'll look for it in minute. Good to know, thanks

Then again, my car doesn't even have a hole for a key. Is this what you guys are talking about or is the "extra" key a fob as well?

The emergency key is both a key that can unlock driver door and a fob. Place it near where the normal car ignition switch is in central console, depress brake pedal and press the start button, and off you go.

There is a small key symbol embossed on the front of dash - place the E-key near, then hit the start button. I keep m E-key in my wallet in case the fob stops working or I lose it.

The key you are looking for is a small black plastic key.
