Best affordable oil extractor?

+1 on the HF unit.
the s8 takes 10 qts i coudlnt justify getting an 8 qt hand unit and having to dump it halfway thru the extraction.
the HF unit holds almost 3 full oil changes worth, vacuums down via venturi from the compressor, stick the thinnest tube down, and 10 mins later the pan is dry.

I have the same type. It holds a full sump full of used oil. No need to drain the extractor half way through.

LiquiVac and a Warning!
Bought an 8-quart LiquiVac (made by Air Power America) from Tractor Supply. $40, worked great. WARNING - If you don't have a dipstick, like my A6, insert a wire or coat hanger down the dip tube until it bottoms out, then mark that length on the siphon tube. DO NOT insert the siphon tube more than an inch or so beyond that, or you run the risk of having the tube travel too far to a point where the tube will kink and will become very difficult to remove. That happened to me the first time and it took 2 hours to get it out. I had just resigned myself to an $800 bill from the dealer, but decided to twist, push, and pull it one last time, and out it popped. It had kinked in five places down in the pan.

I've got the hand pump (since 2014) and now I've moved up and got an
I should have originally just gotten the pneumatic; its way more convenient, holds more 15L ver 8.8L, and seems better built (there are a few versions 'resellers').

To clarify, most of the low cost extractors seem to use 1/4" polyethelene tubing to insert down the dip tube. It's somewhat rigid, but will also kink badly if bent. I found a photo of an Audi oil pan - chock full of sensors, baffles, other stuff where my tube must have run up against or around and then kinked in several spots. If it happens to you, don't give up on pulling, pushing, and twisting to get it out! I found a few posts from some poor bastards who had to have the motors pulled from their boats to get to the pan and remove the stuck tube.
