Thanks for the update! Is the sound good enough for you to enjoy the music etc... do you think there are ways to make it better?

I'm not a perfectionist, but the aux channel quality was annoying enough for me to disable it. There's an input gain setting in the "green screen" menu, I hoped it would work - but it just sets the initial audio source volume, the distortion was still noticeable. The only downside I've found is that texts can't be heard unless I'm using one of the map apps - then they come in via HFP prompts. All in all its a better setup for me, no more fumbling through audio sources, its just always on bluetooth and works great.

Yes, you can be plugged into CarPlay and have your audio source be Bluetooth, simultaneously.

@wuplur what vendor or brand did you buy from on Aliexpress? Any recommendations for someone buying today?
Has anyone figure out how to get better audio quality (without resorting to Bluetooth). The answer I am hoping for is that there are now newer models of these kits with better audio. Anyone know?

Noticed that the now advertised unit supports "wireless airplay CarPlay function". Makes me think it's a newer version, as the one I picked up earlier this year doesn't seem to have anything like that. Not sure if it addresses the aux input sound quality issue though.

I purchased mine from Sinairyu because it was the cheapest at the time. There was an issue where the harness was maybe wired incorrectly or an issue with the box because it wasn't seeing my microphone so when they were assisting me they had me join a group message with another vendor Carlinkit so you may want to purchase from them as I think that might be the main distributer.

I have the dual USB ports in armrest from factory, but no Audi Smartphone on the interface. Most people will tell you its not possible to active Carplay or Android Auto.

Incorrect. I had mine updated to MHI2_ER_AU57x_P3634 with full Audi Smartphone integration.
Guy I found on Audizine from China dialled into my laptop and car remotely and activated it all very successfully. No new hardware needed!

I also got mine updated to get the factory smartphone interface installed and love it, I still kept the aftermarket kit installed cause I utilize the screen mirroring feature every once in awhile.
