Can the digital HVAC control panel be retrofitted to a 2 zone climate control?
I have the basic 2 zone climate control and was wondering if the digital display of the 4 zone climate control could be retrofitted (only the front one), or would the lack of sensors in the rear confuse the system?

Hi,
I've done this retrofit on my past C7 A6 and it's does work, but not perfectly since the motors are different and for that you'll also have many errors on VAS.
On the practical side, I'd suggest you to fix the direction of the wind and you'll be ok.
Best regards
Jimmy

Thanks! If it creates errors, I will not pursue it further. I also read about the panel having a specific anti-theft ID (a bit vague here), so any second hand ebay item would not work, I suppose?

It works! I bought mine from eBay!
If you have a good relation with your dealer, he can install it for you.
Since it's a cheap retrofit, I think you should try it!
I stayed two years with it and was happy even with the limitations
Best regards

When you say "dealer install" do you mean coding or actual install? It is very easy to pull out the panel, so that wouldn't be a problem but if coding is involved to make it work (with the limitations you mention) it is not worth it.

Hi,
I only had the front analog controller...
Limitation was that you couldn't control precisely air flow on auto mode.
I always left the air direction towards the passengers and foot area.
It worked well that way

Hi,
I also wanna change the panel to the digital dito.
If you could not control the air flow in auto mode, did you re-code the controller to the correct settings or did you just plug it in?
How much did you pay to get rid of the component protection?
