Costco Gas

The gas prices have spiked pretty high recently in CA. I just filled my tank up at a nearby Union 76 and payed $4.3999 for premium. Costco gas is always over $0.20 cheaper. I've used Costco gas on my Lexus and old BMW many times, but so far I haven't fed any of that gas to my A6 yet. Its not such a big deal, but I just hate throwing away money. Besides I suppose I could put that money towards keeping my Audi Connect subscription lol.

Gas is gas. They all get fuel from the same refineries. Only difference is the additives..and the price. I use Sams club gas all the time..though we are well under 4.39/gallon here.

I never do, but I wouldn't have a problem using it though. Feel ya about the prices, filled up yesterday for $4.37. Where I live, the line to fill up at Costco is way too long, especially to save only $3. Probably will lose the savings by just sitting idle waiting in line, haha.

I've been using premium gas in my Audis from Costco, Stop & Shop (supermarket chain in MA), Hess, 7-11 and other discount gas stations for over 10 years. No problems whatsoever. Kinda like generic drugs - it's the same stuff as the more expensive brands - they all use the same premium basic, required additives. Only reason to buy the higher cost branded gas is to make you feel better.

That said, I usually stay away from the small, no-name mom and pop gas stations - while it's probably fine, I don't want to take a chance with any moisture or other junk in the gas that might be due to poor maintenance or gas sitting too long in the station's tanks due to infrequent sales.

Didn't vote - no Costco in the area

This. It's the delivery equipment that can be different, and lower turnover stations may have more water in the tanks (there is always water). Going for a high-volume station that turns over gasoline quickly is the only real guideline. And don't fuel up right when they're getting fuel from a truck, that can stir the sediment in the tanks.

And, of course, always best to fuel up in the cool air of the morning, as fuel expands with heat getting less BTU/$ (not much though, honestly).

I've been using Costco on my A6, X5 and GTR. There is no problem at all. Actually I prefer Costco because the pump is much newer than most of other gas stations.
