Default Do I need a new battery?

The door handle sensors on my car have not been working lately. it has been very cold and I hear that it may be due to a weak battery. Here is what ODBeleven shows me when the car is not running.

And this is what it shows me after I've been idling for 5 minutes.

I I would really appreciate any comments. Thanks

Yes. If you hear hoof beats, think horses, not zebras (or alternators)... If battery 4 years or older, then it is done.

Based on its age it is probably time for a new battery.

I was under the impression that what tends to kill batteries is heat and I am hoping that since ours are in trunk perhaps a bit longer life. I'll be at 4 years approx. 38K miles in July of this year. I guess I'll find out........

We assume that 11.3v is with ignition on <10min and all lights and accessories turned off?

Winters cold and dark put much strain on the electrical system. Also, we assume you are not doing mostly short trip driving; if so, it does indeed seem your battery is weak.

Oops, I checked it with ignition on and I was listening to the radio... silly me. Also, I do several short trips during the week and longer drives on the weekend.

My two cents is replace it. Just did mine at 30,000 miles I got tired of all the energy management s*** that you are experiencing. It would be a wise idea to have your charging system also tested based on the information provided by the ODB 11. Goodluck!

Changing the battery is one of the cheapest shotgun fixes you can do for complex, seemingly unrelated issues. If your battery is over 4 years old then you’ve had your monies worth with modern cars that are so power dependent.
