Default Does the 2016 2.0T have dual port and direct injection in the US?

I've been looking at some photos of the 2016 2.0T engine like this one from TrueDelta.com:

It looks like the port injectors were left out for the US market.

This is what they should look like:

The port injection fuel rail is above the intake manifold, while the direct injection fuel rail is below the manifold.

Can anyone with a 2016 2.0T confirm or deny this?

Direct and port injection is for the EU market. Direct injection only for the US. The added port injectors offer better mixing to further reduce emissions as required in the EU. The port injectors for EU cars are used most of the time and the direct injectors are used for idling and full throttle scenarios. Direct injectors offer better cooling allowing higher compression ratios but offer less effective mixing and, with some of the fine droplets hitting the piston, more soot.

Are you asking about the 2.0T 4-cyl gasoline engine that is in the new 2017 Audi A4 (B9) that has just arrived at dealers? I have been wanting to know too. The port injectors would help so much with the carbon buildup on the backside of the valves in the intake.

I believe the new 2.0T used in the 2017 A4 is the same engine currently used in the 2016 A6 which is DI only. It would be nice to have both but I understand that the the carbon buildup issue has been improved as Audi has improved control of the pressure in the crankcase. This has reduced oil consumption as well as the carbon build up to my understanding.

Let us all hope..........Amen! The fact that there have been few or no reports of carbon buildup in 3.0T engines is a good sign. As a latecomer (/15 3.0T acquired 8 months ago) I will have the benefit of the experience of my AW friends who have cars going to back to MY 12 (or is it MY 11 when the first S/C engines were available?) and hopefully when my warranty is about to expire there will have been few or no reports of carbon buildup and the attendant "tear-down" needed to remove the carbon deposits. If that is the case I'll consider keeping my car for some period after warranty expiration. If numerous incidents of carbon buildup are reported my decision will hinge on whether AOA stands behind their product or hangs their loyal customers who have shelled out 55K+ (in the case of 3.0T cars) out to dry. Let's face it, Audi does not have the best reputation when it comes to standing behind their product (A4 oil burning fiasco case in point). Hopefully it carbon buildup in valve train becomes an issue Audi will do the right thing.

Best,
Jeff

I was asking about the 2.0T engine in the refreshed 2016 A6, but I also believe that they use the same engine in the 2017 A4. That is, without port injection.

Carbon build-up is a problem for the 2.0T from MY 2009-2011, yet customers must pay out of pocket to have the intake valves cleaned. The timing chain tensioner for the 2.0T from 2009-2011/2012 is defective, causing engines to begin destroying themselves in the range of 70k - 120k miles, yet Audi has done nothing. Don't hold your breath.

Precisely why I do not plan to keep my A6 for very long, if at all, beyond expiration of warranty, unless as we approach July, 2019 there is a significant body of credible evidence that the first few years of C7 3.0T cars do not suffer from any issues that are as serious as those you mention in your post or the oil consumption issue that plagued certain years of the A4 series. I have no plans to be at the wrong end of Audi's arrogance and miserly goodwill policy. Again, hope that Audi's days of turning their back on their customers are over but if not, I'm OK with a return to Acura or Lexus.

Best,
Jeff

Excuse the thread revive, I wanted to keep it going to discuss the '17 and 18' 2.0t in the US. I assume that the US version of 2.0T doesn't have port injection, I worry with an S3 that the added compression is increasing blow black, rendering our valves useless sooner than the lower compression brethren. I know some are using a catch-can, I really like my 18 S3, I'd like to keep this one a while.

Well, anyway, bump.

Hello, I am based in Europe and looking to acquire a second hand Audi A4 2.0 TFSI Avant Quattro or Allroad. Perhaps even the little later they denote as "45 TFSI" but how can I research whether these have dual port injection? I have searched and searched and the information is scarce. This surprises me as the carbon build up has been a complaint for many so why so hard to find information about which of their new cars actually have tried to address this with multi port injection?
When I look up cars and specifications all it reads is direct injection but I'm hoping this is not the exhaustive truth.

Any help on where I can double check this would be much appreciated please.
