With "different to zero" its meant all values must not be zero. If all the values are zero it is too early for change. It doesnt matter before or after open green menu. If all values are zero you have to wait until they are different to zero.

Needs to be enabled through VCDS first. Info is all over, here's what I have recorded:
Enable Hidden menu in MMI
[5F - Information Electr.]
[Adaptation - 10] -> Channel 6 "Development Test Mode (Service Menu)"
change 0 to 1
Reset MMI (MENU + Press **** + Top Right Soft button)
Enter hidden menu (CAR + MENU for several seconds)
Actual entry can be tricky as MMI seems to want to see the two buttons simultaneously and within a fairly narrow tolerance for "simultaneous".

How to do this on 2017 S6?
This tip was great on my 2012 A7 but now I have changed to a 2017 S6 all has changed - except for the very annoying radio unmuting.
I activated the green menu (5F, Security, then Adaption, Developer Mode, reboot, hold bottom-left soft button and back button) but it has changed and could not find the audio settings anywhere.
Huge list of things in 5F Adaption but couldn't find anything obvious for setting the audio levels, other than for things like parking and the various announcements, etc., which can all be done via the MMI anyway.
I don't know what idiot in Audi things it is a good idea to automatically turn the radio up to level 3 on start up, which is about audible enough to be annoying but not enough to be useful. What were they thinking? Or what were they on?
Anyone know of a solution and care to share it? As a work around, selecting Media and an empty Source kinda works.
