fuel filter

According to Audi's maintenance intervals, the fuel filter only has to be replaced for the TDI models. No other models call for a filter change. Of course, I don't believe this... but since the schedule goes up to 155,000 mi, I suspect they think it'll last that long.
I replaced it on my previous B6 A4 every 40k, but I don't think it needed it (never noticed an improvement after the change). I'll probably replace it on my A6 at 75k unless I notice performance issues before then (I'm at 57k now).
