Default Is this a good deal? A6 3.0T Prestige

Hello All,

I'm thinking of making the leap to Audi and came across a example of a car I'd like however it has a few issues.

1.) Vehicle says rental. When I asked the dealer he said it was in title only and used as a personal car for the companies owner and just titled like that. They say the title would show this. Im worried I'll have a difficult time selling with this car titled once as a rental for 41k miles.
2.) Car has brand new summer tires (reason the dealer cited they wouldn't CPO it)
3.) Warranty expires 3/10/19 (not CPO) what I originally wanted.

Other than that car drives great.

Thanks in advance!

No CPO would be a non-starter for me! New summer tires should not be a reason.

I have an 2012 A6 3.0T Prestige. I did not buy it from an Audi dealer so it was not CPO. It was originally on a 3 year lease from new and I bought it from a dealer who purchased it when the lease expired probably at one of those auctions. It has been a great car. I am extremely happy with it.

I recently paid $36k for a 2016 a6 prestige. It was CPO with 28k miles.

No radar so check the options that you want compared to what this car has.

If they won’t cpo it, I would skip it. Many other cars are available

Czech, I actually looked at that car and bought the black one that was CPO with 34,000mi for $38K. I think that the car you are looking at is a pretty good deal. If you buy it they are going to try to sell you an extended warranty. If you don't mind spending an extra $4K they will warranty the car for 10yrs/100K miles. I was not prepared to discuss an extended warranty and was blindsided, discuss it up front - maybe you can get a better deal than I did.

CPO is worth about 3-4k, and that shows in the price. I wouldn't say don't buy, just be aware that you're on your own after the warranty is up (versus having another 1-2 years CPO). Also third party extended warranties are pretty expensive and limited, I personally don't think they're worth it but up to you. As for the "rental" part, not necessarily a deal breaker, but I would use that as negotiation point. These cars are pretty solid, if you can get that down to 30k you got a good deal.

I see that the price dropped another grand, it is more than $3k under market value according to Car Gurus - starting to look like a good deal, it won't last long.

Also know that the CPO is now only a 1 year extension (5 years from original in service date), with unlimited miles...
