Head up Display retrofit

Does anyone know if this is possible? I'm having a hard time finding an A6 with all the options I want and the Innovation package in my area.

Is it possible? Yes
Will it make sense financially? no

At the very least you would need a new windscreen, new headlight switch assembly (w/the hud switch), the actual HUD and probably a new dash top, and any assorted control modules and programming.

The actual HUD looks like it fits on top of the regular dash. It's very low profile and takes up very little space. That's why I thought it may be possible. I didn't know a knew windscreen would be required. I"ll have to check on the prices for that.

Go with a factory order and you will get the car exactly the way you want it.

I'm buying a pre-owned A6 so I have no choice but to look for the options I want. A factory order is not an option.

Then just be patient and one with the options you want will eventually show up. It was worth the wait for me!

Ive done this retrofit and the actual HUD is pretty big in size. Has to be to accommodate the mirrors. You need the HUD unit, new dashboard and HUD trim. Wiring is very straightforward but removing and refitting the dash is pretty labour intensive and if you have not done it before then you will struggle.
So far it works fine on the original windscreen but im going to change this for a new one once i do the lane assist
Oh and dont forget you will also need access to elsawin too

I have done this upgrade on my fl 2015.
its straight forward.
Parts needed is hud windscreen, lightswitch, the complete hud system. New/used cableloom (4 pins) (positive and ground, can high and low) and i do recomend getting a hud dash (yes, its possible to cut it to fit, but damn what a job. Rerouting the airduct is a pain in the ***)
the coding depends on a few details. Facelift or pre facelift. 3g or mib2 player. I have the coding for the fl mib2 high

regarding the retrofit.
Disconnect the battery
out with the windscreen.
Then the senterconsole, before removing all trim and parts in the dashboard.
make shure to take a lot of pictures and remeber where all bolts etc goes.

i fixed my retrofit in one weekend.

Looks relatively simple and straight forward. ;)
