I don't think that's the case. I believe any Audi that has a remote key fob and power windows/sunroof can be programmed to operate them. My now gone 2001 A6 and the wife's 2002 allroad has that option enabled by VCDS. No MMI or advanced key existed back then.

+1 to Snagit's comment. My 2000 A6 (which I still have, for the time being) has this activated. I activated it on my 2013 A6, and when the MMI code was updated I had to reactivate it. Works perfectly.

Is there any way to reverse the MMI? I'm used to turning clockwise making the selection go down, and counterclockwise going up (because of iDrive). Audi is the opposite. Feels backwards to me.

This has come up many times and the answer is no.

Too bad. It is something simple but highly annoying.

It is what it is and in time you'll get used to it. Think of it as one of those enduring quirks we've all learned to accept with our nearly perfect A6 marriage partner. Just one of several but most of us still love her (or him?).

So is the VAG COM only able to be used on Audi/VW etc or can it also work on BMW and other models? I ask because I typically purchase BMW, currently have two Audi's, but may in the future end up getting a BMW again or maybe a MB...

As it states on Ross-Tech's website:

"The first truly affordable, full-function diagnostic system for VW/Audi. Constantly updated software has ensured compatibility with all VW, Audi, Seat and Skoda passenger cars"..

So, no other brands.

My apologies, did not go to the manufacturer's site.
